The moods and qualities of nature and the revelations of great art are difficult to define; we can grasp them only in the depths of our perceptive spirit.” ~ Ansel Adams

Art is the meeting ground of the world inside and the world outside.” ~ Elinor Ulman

I found I could say things with color and shapes that I couldn’t say any other way – things I had no words for.” ~ Georgia O’Keeffe

As a person who struggles with anxiety, intrusive thoughts and has dealt with severe depression and addiction in the past, mental health and the importance of being proactive in recovery is crucial. The day in and day out battle to fight negative, fearful thoughts can be an incredible burden and heavy weight to bear.

Reclaiming Life Art supports initiatives to break stigma, seek lasting solutions and share stories through art in order to find healing for mental health issues.

Here are just a few sobering stats about mental health today:

  • 1 in 5 U.S. adults experience mental illness each year

  • 1 in 20 U.S. adults experience serious mental illness each year

  • 1 in 6 U.S. youth aged 6-17 experience a mental health disorder each year

  • 50% of all lifetime mental illness begins by age 14, and 75% by age 24

And these are just stats from the United States...BUT there is hope!

Below I have listed some resources and links to recovery programs who have/are doing amazing work to break stigma, bring freedom and lower those stats:
